New Moon Phase February 10 – Nairãtmyã

This post is a little late, since it now in the Full Moon phase. For this moon phase, the guiding spirit is one of the Diamond Sky Dakinis – Nairãtmyã. While this project was started from the perspective of the Mahavidyas, for the moon phases, they are guided by the Dakinis as well.

The specific information that we  are most familiar with are the Mahavidyas. And we do not have experience with the Diamond Sky Dakinis. That being said, we will bring forth any and all information that we can find to help connect with this energy.

For starts, we researched from that sagely source of information (wikipedia). their posting reflects:

nairatmyaNairãtmyã (pronounced: nai RAHT MYAH, Tib. bdag med ma, pron. Dagmema[1]), translated as “Lady of Emptiness” or “She Who Has Realized Selflessness.” is a female Buddha. Buddhism teaches that to perceive ourselves as independent, separate selves, is an illusion. For in truth we are connected with all that exists in a vast web of communion (without self[2]). Nairatmya embodies this realization (also called pudgala- nairatmya, the not-permanent-selfness of persons[3]). Her body is blue, the color of infinite space, reflecting the limitless expanse of her awareness. Like the element of space, she flows through the universe without impediment, for she has transcended ego-centered existence. Her eyes blaze with the wisdom of one who understands the mysteries and depths of life. She raises her curved knife (kartika) skyward, poised to sever negative mindstates wherever they arise. In her skullcup (kapala), she pulverizes illusions and returns them to their original state – a mere play of light, a rainbow of energy, shimmering in empty space.

She is enlightened spontaneity in female form,

A supremely blissful divine yogini.

She is the mansion of enlightened awareness,

Possessor of the five Buddha-wisdoms ….

She is pure, universal awareness,

The sovereign of the mandala.

She is Nairatmya Yogini,

The essence of ultimate reality.

— from Hevajra tantra[4][5][6]

We invite all to connect with the energy of Nairãtmyã and share what you may.

  1. This is really amazing. Last month with Matangi I came across the colour of Magenta and the other day the colour of blue came into my awareness.
I wrote a post about how so many of our guides and teachers are associated with the colour blue.http://spiraloflight.wordpress.com/2013/03/03/blue-guides/ Today I come here and find that this month’s guiding spirit is blue.
Thank you for posting this … am going to re-post it on my blog.
So … am interested now to see what gifts Nairãtmyã will bring ( I must say that this month has already been wild … and we are only a few days into it )
    Much Love

  3. Mmm…. am a tad confused … does this mean that Nairãtmyã’s influence will be on the wane in the next couple of days as we transition into another lunar month…? Also … who are the Diamond Sky Dakinis ..? Are they also aspects of Sophia…? And … was there also a Mahavidya `on duty’ as well..?
Sorry for all the questions … I kinda got a feel of Matangi and now Nairãtmyã appears to have floated past on the breeze. Interesting that Matangi was about the breeze however that energy was really palpable … and this energy which has followed has not been so much… although we did not really `know’ about it until later I guess.
However … blue has really been around me lately … and also that feeling of being at One which Nairãtmyã seems to be all about is becoming more and more prevalent with many things merging and people coming together.
Anyway … I guess there is a new guiding force in a couple of days… Nairãtmyã seems to have appeared and then is set to disappear out of the `blue’ … maybe that it what this energy is all about – merging in the blue expanse of infinite space.
I shall stop rambling now. ;-)

  4. I gettit ;-) … Nairãtmyã is also known as `Lady of Emptiness’ and `She Who Has Realized Selflessness’ … so the energy is Omnipresent.

  5. Today is the new moon, and I see from my Stellarium program that the crescent moon will be in the Fishes tomorrow, meaning that Nairatmya will be on shift again. Coincidently the Sun is also shifting into the constellation of the Fishes.

I love it when the Sun shifts on a new moon. It feels like such a gentle dreamy shift, giving us time to adjust.

  6. On today’s TOR post, Laura stated that, “This lunar month is ruled by the dakini Nairatmya”. I came across a web site on her that is very significant to me:

    http://www.buddhanature.com/buddha/blackdakini.html

Where this is the second month with her on station, I am still not sure how it all fits in. As I read today’s post though, drawing lines in the sand came to me, which has been a theme over the past several days. On a deeper level I feel, A Game Changer, around the corner.
Suffice to say deeper aspects are coming to the surface.

  7. I’ve been having many deep , beautiful meditations with Nairatmya over the last week. They are getting stronger daily. Each day She shows me another part of her sadhana – Her mantra one day, Her yantra the next, Her meditation on another. Yesterday I experienced Her asanas. I felt a rush of fiery life force coming from Gaia’s fiery core, up through my spine. I was sitting outside under an oak tree initially, but was compelled to stand in mountain pose with arms reaching to the sky. The energy then rushed out of my head and hands into the sky and rained back down on me like melted bliss, flowing over and through me from head to feet. A forward bend with hands touching the earth seemed appropriate when the bliss entered my feet. This was repeated several times.

Today I am writing the whole flow of Her meditation. I was curious about how others experience Her mantra and googled many pages by different authors. They all agree that Her primal root sound is “Ah”, and of course they also agree with the beginning of the mantra “OM” and the ending “SVA HA” or “SOHA”, but the middle parts are as varied as the many authors. The mantra She revealed to me is simply “OM HRIM NAIRATMYA, NAIRATMYA SVA HA.” (3X)

I came across a wonderful piece from Miranda Shaw from her book “Buddhist Goddesses of India”, which affirmed many of my experiences with Nairatmya. 8. Hello, it’s been so quiet here I feel like I should whisper. I just finished a video meditation based on communing with Nairatmya and the solar transit of the Fishes.

To aid in the assimilation of the evolutionary radiations we are currently exposed to, on all levels of our personal and collective Self, I find it profoundly helpful to meditate on and identify with the encoded wisdom of the constellation behind the Sun and its related Dakini. Not only does it reduce evolutionary tension by helping your bodies to quickly adjust to the frequency of light that is bathing the planet, you will feel rejuvenated, healthier, saner, more inspired and happy, if not blissful.

The constellation behind the Sun during the period of March 12 to April 18 is The Fishes (aka Pisces). I distinguish between the starless “sign” of Pisces and the starry constellation of The Fishes by using those distinctive names. In 90 BC the Vernal Equinox entered the Fishes constellation, and at that time astrology was more accurately aligned with the stars. It is the temperament of Nature to change; evolution is characteristic of being alive. Our planet and the starry galactic Being within which She lives and moves and has her being, is very much alive. Astrology, if it is to have any livingness and relevance needs to be engaged with the real, living, moving Being we call our Galaxy and with our local group of celestial companions. Anything else belongs in the compost pile.

So, while most astrologers, using the starless “sign” based astrology of the past, will tell you that the Sun is in Aries, I assure you that is pure fantasy. Look at any planetarium and you will see for yourself the Sun is transiting The Fishes. I know I sound like a broken record on this point. I feel that it’s a message worth repeating until humanity wakes up enough to become aware of our natural spatial environment and relations.

The energies coming to us from the Fishes constellation have to do with tolerance, connectedness, compassion and a willingness to be present in love and service on the physical plane and in all our relations. The Dakini Nairatmya deepens our experiential knowing of these energies through our practice of identification with Her. She is The “Lady of Emptiness”, “She Who Has Realized Selflessness.” She is an aspect, or persona, of Our Mother Gaia which we refer to as the sky. She teaches us that to perceive ourselves as independent, separate selves, is an illusion. For in truth we are connected with all that exists in a vast web of communion. She transmits and radiates the bliss that pulses at the heart of reality.

For best effect, these meditations are very physical, involving asanas, breath and mudras that help move energy through the specific spinal centers that are being affected during the solar transits. The imagination is also used to help us enact and identify with the Dakini and Her particular behaviors and powers. I call these, Breath Body Mudra Meditations and have been inspired to make a series of short videos to illustrate my approach.

These simple meditations have profound effects, yet are fun and easy to learn. They are intended to be done outside with bare feet on the Earth, but anywhere will do. Watch the meditation once inside so that you get a feel for it, then go outside and either make up your own version of it or take your smart phone and be guided as you listen to it on You Tube. Enjoy and please feel free to share your experience with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfacGfy8NCU

I look forward to seeing how everyone else here has been inspired by Nairtmya.
